From The Magic Video Game
It was near the end of Levi Cranston's seventh grade year, and he, Jack Andrews, and Asad Prejesh were walking over to Levi’s house for an afternoon. It was a Friday afternoon, and things were going very well. Levi never really said much about how much he really liked Mackenzie Burbanks, but Jack and Asad knew how obvious it was, since they knew that Levi would always look in her general direction if she was there, and he would always shy away because he wanted to maintain his emotions. The three boys saw Mackenzie walking toward her parents’ car. Jack and Asad waved at her. Levi, however, looked away. “Levi, I have a proposition for you,” Jack told Levi. “And what is that?” Levi answered with apprehension. “Pick a dandelion and give it to her.” “Are you serious?” “Very.” Levi didn’t do anything at first because he wasn’t sure that he could actually do this. He was extremely timid on these matters. He thought about doing it, and then he would shy away from doing so. “Come on, Levi!” Asad encouraged him. “Just do it,” Jack said. Levi just sighed and gave in to his friends’ proposition. The boy quickly picked a dandelion and walked slowly toward Mackenzie, a brown-haired, brown-eyed girl. He was breathing very hard, and his cheeks turned beet red. His heart was pounding so hard against his chest that he could actually hear the racket inside him. Thumpa, thumpa, thumpa, thumpa. He was still walking toward her, and he started feeling sick to his stomach. It still had to be done, though. He had to interact with this girl some time. “Hi,” Levi spoke quietly. Mackenzie turned around and saw Levi. She could actually hear him. “Hi, Levi,” Mackenzie answered politely. Levi thought about what to say, but he couldn’t think of anything else. With a pounding heartbeat, he quickly gave her the dandelion. Then, he let out a heavy sigh. “Awwww….thanks!” Mackenzie exclaimed. Levi smiled coyly. He could feel the pain in his throat when he swallowed. He did his best to keep his high emotions inside. It worked. “Well, bye, Levi,” Mackenzie said. Levi couldn’t say anything back. Instead, he waved. Then, when she left with her family, he ran back to his friends. Then he started crying. “She is so gorgeous!” Levi exclaimed to his friends. The three boys sat down by the school sign until Levi stopped crying, which took about fifteen minutes to actually calm him down. Then, they all went over to his house for the afternoon and played video games.

From Rockybado 4: Running Up a Hill
David Ingram woke up early this morning. It wasn’t that he had instantly become a morning person. Far from it. Today was his first day at his first full-time job after graduation from college. And he was more than excited about it. David's younger brother, Brody, on the other hand, was looking forward to sleeping in. Even though that might have been the case, he was still excited about his internship. He was hoping to build a deeper connection with the other intern, Jacob Frank, who is also a quarter Italian. Brody was also hoping to build deeper connections and network with everyone else in the firm. However, Brody was having a hard time getting out of bed. As always. David wasn’t quite sure why he wanted his younger brother of a year to wake up. Probably just because he wanted to say, “Buh bye, Brody. See you this afternoon when you’re in a better mood.” Then again, maybe not. Perhaps he was just hoping to wake Brody up so that he could enjoy the day as well, even though he didn’t have his internship today. This was going to be fun and exciting at the same time. “Wake up, B-Rodes,” David said to his younger brother. “No,” Brody answered in his pillow. “For real. It’s eight o’clock.” “So?” “I’m leaving for my first day,” David replied. “Have fun,” Brody replied semi-sarcastically. “Are you gonna stay in bed?” “What do you think?” “I’ll take that as a yes?” “You thought right.” Brody unconsciously pulled his covers over himself, and he went back to sleep. Who knew when he was going to finally wake up and enjoy the day? He would probably be fully awake by the time David would come home from work this afternoon, even though he would most likely get out of bed by noon at the very latest. Then again, maybe not. It’s summer, and Brody didn’t have much going on today. Why not just sleep the whole day away and catch up on some z’s. Probably a good idea. David, however, couldn’t go back to sleep, even if he wanted to. For one, he had his first day at his first full-time job. Secondly, since he had his first day at his first full-time job, he couldn’t sleep at all last night because of the intensely mixed feelings of nervousness and excitement. He was super excited about starting his job right, but he had absolutely no idea what to expect. He decided to take today as an opportunity to become closer to the people in the workplace. |
