From Rockybado 3: The Invasion of the Naughty Blue Aliens
It was August 2012, and Brody Ingram was drawing cartoons at the dining room table. He wanted to do absolutely nothing else. It was a little hot outside, so he didn’t want to practice tennis. And, for that matter, David, Brody's older brother, didn’t want to practice tennis either. David had just finished playing video games and got a little bored after a while of playing, so he saw Brody drawing a picture of what looked like a cat. He just wanted to find out for himself what the drawing was of. The two boys were the only ones at home, so there was not a lot to do right now but possibly draw cartoons. "Who is Petey Anderson?" David asked when he saw Brody drawing cartoons. "He's someone I made up," Brody replied. "What does he like?" "Hot sauce, penne pasta, and Chinese food." "And I see that he tripped on a banana peel," David remarked. "Yes, he did," Brody answered. "Petey looks very familiar, too." "Oh, he does?" "Is he a cat?" "No. He's a dog."

Brett Ingram looked at his electric guitar with complete admiration. David looked at Brett’s science formula posters with complete admiration. And Brody was looking at both of his brothers with a look of confusion on his face. David and Brody are Brett's younger brothers. “Hey, Brett?” Brody tried to get his older brother’s attention. “Yays?” Brett answered, suddenly taking his eyes off his guitar. “How are you after a couple days ago?” “What do you mean?” “You thought a girl was cute.” “Oh. I did?” “….I thought you said that.” “Oh. I did.” Brody knew how extremely sarcastic his older brother was being right now. Of course, Brett probably still had that girl on his mind. He just didn’t want to say it. And Brody probably did not understand the whole story about what happened when Brett laid eyes on the pretty girl for the first time. Basically because Brett was not at all open about it with him. “Yeah. She’s cute,” Brett blurted out. “Her name?” David asked. “It’s a Serbian name, and I can’t remember it offhand. But I do have it in my phone. She wanted me to call her back.” “Did you?” Brody questioned. “Not yet.” “Oh?” “Can I be honest with you?” “Yeah.” “I forgot.” All three boys laughed pretty hard. It has always been in Brett’s nature to forget something simple as that. He can remember the hardest math equations, the most complicated chemical bonds, and the physiology of the breathing apparatus. But he often forgets to call people who ask him to. Oh well. It happens. While Brett, David, and Brody were still sitting in Brett’s room, Brett went back to looking at his electric guitar with complete admiration. David went back to looking at Brett’s science formula posters with complete admiration. And Brody went back to looking at both of his brothers with a look of confusion on his face. He didn’t want to say anything now because, really, he didn’t know what to say at this point. Brody couldn’t think of anything else to talk about. David couldn’t think of anything else to talk about. And Brett wanted to pull out his electric guitar and practice. And then it occurred to Brody. “Oh, Brett?” Brody tried getting his older brother’s attention. “Yays?” Brett answered. “You will see her at bowling practice, won’t you?” It took a little while for Brett to answer Brody’s question. Simply because he had thought about avoiding it. But why, though? This really had nothing to do with either David or Brody. The youngest brother in the room was just curious, and he just wanted to ask a curious question. Simple enough. After two minutes of complete thought…. “Yes, Brody. I will see her today,” Brett answered reluctantly. “We will let you practice on your guitar,” David said. “Thank you.” And Brody and David left Brett’s room, so he could practice a little bit on his guitar skills. The two boys then went into their bedroom and made their beds. And then, they decided to play classic video games together until further notice. Probably for only an hour, though. Because it was already 10:30 in the morning. The boys did not sleep for very long because Rockybado, the robot king of the island of Texamilio, had to return each boy to their houses. David Ingram needed to go back to Crown Point, Indiana. Andrew Grzedek had to return to St. John, Indiana. And Levi Cranston thought that it would be necessary to come home to Valparaiso, Indiana. And so did Rockybado. The crazy chicken escapade was over, and, even though they all wanted to spend more time on the three seemingly “fictitious” islands, the three boys had other obligations over the next few days. David was sleeping on his side on the leather sofa in the common area. Andrew was sleeping on his stomach on the floor. And Levi was sprawled across a recliner. Rockybado thought that he shouldn’t have had to wake them up. However, he needed to send the boys home. “Wake up, boys,” Rockybado announced all of a sudden. “Wha….” Andrew answered in his sleep. “I need to take you guys home.” David and Levi slowly stirred. They didn’t really want to go home, but they had their own tennis practice tomorrow, so they had to come home. “Come, come to my UFO,” Rockybado said. “It was fun being here,” David remarked sleepily. “What time is it?” Levi asked, just as sleepily as David. He then realized that it was 12:30 in the morning. For some reason, the boys fell asleep early. Probably because they were very tired. David, Andrew, and Levi entered Rockybado’s UFO, and, before they knew it, they were all almost back home. “What is the chicken community going to do now?” Levi asked Rockybado. “Probably party like it’s 1991,” Rockybado remarked jokingly. “Why 1991?” David asked. “That was when Radcliffe and his friends established what is now the chicken community.” “No kidding. All three of us were born that year,” Andrew replied. “No kidding.” “I was born on August 17th. David was born on October 30th, and Levi was born some time in September. Am I right?” “No. You’re wrong. David was born on September 30th, and I was born on October 30th,” Levi replied. All three boys were eventually home. From Rockybado 2: A Run in the Game
Nothing was said between Brett, David, Bryan, Tamaka, Britney, and Rachelle. At least for about two minutes. The fact that they were silent was a bit of an awkward feeling, for either party. It was either that Bryan and his buddies were going to let David and Brett off the hook today; or Bryan and his buddies were going to ask for a brawl. And then…. “So, what are you going to do?” David asked Bryan, after the awkward silence. “David,” Brett warned his younger brother. “Well, this is awkward,” Tamaka said matter-of-factly. “I agree,” Rachelle said even more matter-of-factly. “What are we going to do, Bryan?” Britney asked her twin brother. A few seconds later…. “Today, we’re going to let you guys off the hook. But next time, we fight,” Bryan answered in a somewhat nonchalant manner. “I could easily beat you guys in a fight,” Brett replied. “How?” “For one….I’m older than you. By at least a year.” “What does that have to do with anything?” “More experience and knowledge.” This was apparently a little too much information for Bryan and his friends to digest all at once. Nothing else was said for another few minutes or so. Another awkward moment, to say the least. Brett and David looked at the four kids. Bryan, Tamaka, Britney, and Rachelle looked down at the ground. And, evidently, Bryan couldn’t be too serious about trying to fight David and Brett. “Okay. Let’s go,” Bryan said to his friends. Bryan, Britney, Tamaka, and Rachelle left the baseball field. However, Brett and David stayed and hoped to find Brody and Andrew in particular. They first walked slowly over to the vending machine to get two cans of pop, one for Brett and one for David. Brett and David Ingram went roller-blading around their neighborhood. They had nothing else better to do. Dawson was at his internship. Toby was at his friend’s house. And both parents were at work. The two boys put on their roller blades and protective gear. And then, they were off. “So, did you see the girl at the bowling alley yesterday?” David brought up an old topic. “No, I did not,” Brett replied somewhat wistfully. “Oh, you didn’t?” “Turns out that she was only there with her friends. She is not on the bowling team.” “Did you call her?” “I did, and I got her answering machine.” “If you don’t succeed the first time, try again. If you don’t succeed the second time, try again. If you don’t succeed the third time, give up because you’re just being annoying.” Brett and David had to laugh pretty hard at that statement. Was it really true? Probably not. It was probably just a random saying that a random person made up while he or she was bored. To many, this saying would most likely be considered sarcastic, yet funny. The two boys still roller-bladed around their neighborhood. It was a fun pastime that they have not done in a while. And it has always felt good to put on the roller blades and all the equipment, just to go on a roller blade excursion. This was at least one good way to hang out with a friend, or in this case, a brother. “We’re making chicken for dinner tonight,” David said, hoping that this was a decent conversation starter. “Wait. We’re making chicken for dinner tonight? How can we make chicken?” Brett answered with some sarcasm. “Okay. We’re having chicken for dinner tonight.” “What kind of chicken? Please. Be specific.” “Barbeque chicken.” “Bingo.” “Barbeque chicken is amazing.” “I agree with you.” They had so much fun roller blading for another fifteen minutes until David wasn’t very careful. The boy did not pay much attention to where he was going, and he lost his balance, causing him to fall on the pavement and scrape his left knee. The boy was so sore that he was nearly miserable. He did not want to give up because he was afraid that he would make the pain worse. Brett walked over to him and tried to make him feel as comfortable as he could, given the circumstance. Brett, at first, started freaking out. He thought he did not bring any bandages with him on the roller blade outing. David’s older brother spent minutes digging through his shorts pockets to make sure he may have had a few with him. And, to his surprise, he realized that he did, in fact, pack a few nice bandages, just in case situations like these happened. “That was smart,” David blurted out, once he saw the bandages. “We are smart,” Brett answered. The two boys slowly walked home after a few minutes, so David could apply an ice pack on his knee. When they were home, Brett made some sweet tea, put some ice in a sandwich bag, and gave both to David. And then, Brett made himself a glass of sweet tea and sat on the adjacent recliner; David was lying sideways on the couch. He still seemed to be in quite a bit of pain. However, their cat, Honeybunny, was lying on his stomach; she was probably trying to help him feel a little better. “How’s your knee, David?” Brett felt compelled to ask, once David applied the ice pack to the injury. “Very sore. That’s all I can say,” David answered half-heartedly. “At least the ice pack is put on it, so we can decrease swelling. And it was good that we cleaned the scrape. Otherwise, we could be a bit worried about….” “Brett?” David quickly got his brother’s attention, meaning that he was starting to get very annoyed. “What?” Brett replied after a few seconds. “I am also interested in that stuff, but I do not want to talk about it right now.” “Sorry.” “Okay.” “Want to watch a cartoon?” “I would love to watch a cartoon.” Brett put on a silly cartoon, and they both watched some humor on TV for about thirty minutes. And then, Brett decided to get a soda for David and himself. Honeybunny was still on David’s stomach; and the pretty white cat was purring very loudly. Felicia, the Ingram’s other cat who is a calico, was probably napping on Brody’s futon, as always. Brody is David and Brett's younger brother. “How are you feeling? How’s your knee?” Brett asked David, once he returned to the common area with their sodas. “Much better,” David replied. David finally felt much better, and, fifteen minutes later, Brett drove both David and himself to the practice field, since they weren’t too far away from it. Both boys got out of the car, and they decided to sit in the bleachers behind the baseball field. They did not say anything during practice. They just wanted to see the Watsons, the beloved baseball team, do well during the remainder of their practice for the day. However, while watching the baseball practice that was still going on, Brett and David noticed Bryan Brackley and his friends; Rachelle LaDonna, Tamaka Enna-Jordan, and Britney Brackley, Bryan’s twin sister. All four “jokesters” were hiding behind a bush. Brett and David tried to ignore them. However, the four other kids jumped up from behind the bush and shouted: “WHATCHA DOIN’, YOU….” “We are not afraid of you,” Brett interrupted. “We are not afraid of you,” Britney replied in a smart-aleck tone. David Ingram, Andrew Grzedek, and Levi Cranston were sitting in the common area playing video games, as they normally would. They didn’t talk much; they were just enjoying themselves and each other’s company. The three boys were playing several classic video games and drinking grape soda for an hour and thirty minutes. Until David’s phone rang. The boy quickly got up and ran toward his phone. Andrew and Levi, however, were still playing games. David found his phone on the nearby coffee table and quickly answered it without looking at his caller ID. “Hello?” David answered on his end. “Hi, David! It’s Brody,” the voice on the other end answered back. “Hey, Brody! What’s up?” “Not much. How are you?” “Andrew, Levi, and I are playing video games. What are you up to?” David asked. “Just woke up, and it’s already noon,” Brody replied plainly. “What are you going to do today?” “I’m practicing tennis with John Garfield. He and his family are coming to Crown Point later this afternoon.” “We’re going to, hopefully, practice tennis soon.” “Hopefully you can.” Andrew and Levi looked at David and realized that he was talking on the phone with his younger brother. After a few minutes, David put his phone on speaker, so that all three boys could talk to Brody. All four boys met at Andrew’s brother’s best friend’s birthday party, and they knew that they were going to be close friends. “Hi, Brody!” Levi shouted. “Hey,” Brody replied somewhat sleepily. Since he just got out of bed, he would probably spend some time waking up. Brody is not a morning person in the slightest. “What’s up, Brody?!” Andrew shouted. “Hi. So, I heard that you are planning to have your own tennis practice soon,” Brody remarked. “Hopefully in a few days.” “I can’t wait.” Wow. What a weekend.
Eating white truffle pizza. Almost went bowling. A Scottish accent. New York and Boston accents. And British accents. All of those accents. We excel at all of them. Every single one. 'Twas quite the weekend. Laughing at outlandish things. That did not make sense. Every day is fun. Every day is so different. From the other days. Now I am writing. Going back to my sci-fi. While drinking tea. I'll watch cooking shows. Also some awesome sci-fi. And some comedy. Also gonna write. Because it just feels so good. I mean, all the time. I've written some books. Brody Ingram slept in late the next morning. It was already noon, and he did not want to wake up. Brody had such a fun night with his best friend, Andrew McCalsky, and he was really sore from the run. When he was still in bed, he somehow heard his mom come into the bedroom. Brody was sleeping on his side, and it appeared obvious that he had missed his alarm; it went off thirty minutes ago. When she came in, he quickly pulled his covers over him and decided that it would be good to sleep in for at least another hour. “Hey, Brody, you should get ready to leave for practice in a few minutes,” she said to him. “I don’t wanna get up,” Brody answered feebly. “You have a commitment, you know.” “Ugh. Do I have to get up?” “If you would like to stay on the baseball team, you should probably get up and get ready to go.” That was, however, not enough coaxing for Brody to get up and get ready for baseball practice. His mom was right; Brody did have a commitment to the baseball team. And if he missed a few practices, he could possibly get eliminated from the team and have Bryan Brackley take his place. The thought of Bryan got Brody moving. “Do we have any more Chinese food in the fridge?” Brody asked once he got out of bed. “Yes, we do,” his mom replied. Practice started at 1:30, and it was 12:50. Brody tried to eat as quickly as he could, as the expedition over to the practice field is about fifteen minutes away. And he also needed to get ready for today’s practice. And that could take another few minutes at least. Brody arrived at the baseball field at 1:49. “Brody, you know you’re late. Where were you?” Coach Withrow asked. “I overslept,” Brody answered. However, Brody was not the only one late. Andrew was also late because he overslept as well. And Brody and Andrew had a great night last night. However, they were going to have to face the obvious consequences today: being overly exhausted from last night, and the fact that they might have to pay a penalty for being late to practice. However, that was probably not going to happen. Coach Withrow has always known some of the boys’ strengths and weaknesses. One strength: Brody and Andrew are both outstanding players. One weakness: Brody and Andrew are not morning people. David Ingram, Andrew Grzedek, and Levi Cranston knew that they had a great time on Galavanti Island with Dacston the T-Rex, Valpatic the velociraptor, Jokie the brachiosaurus, and Sammy the stegosaurus. However, according to the rules, their next stop was Texamilio, where Rockybado, the robot king of the island, and his friends live. David was especially excited about revisiting Texamilio because he has been there before. “I had a great time with you all,” Dacston said to the three boys. “I enjoyed Galavanti Island,” Levi replied. “I did, too,” David remarked. “I did as well,” Andrew replied. Valpatic, Jokie, and Sammy were also sad that David, Andrew, and Levi had to leave Galavanti Island. However, they knew that the three boys were also going to enjoy themselves in Texamilio. The four dinosaurs gave the three boys a big group hug, and the three boys were off. David, Andrew, and Levi boarded a similar UFO that came to the area all of a sudden. Then, the three boys were off to Texamilio to meet Rockybado, the King of the island, as well as his other comrades. Rockybado knew exactly what happened to the chicken community, and they were relying on the three boys to help them find evidence of Darveda, Nelson, Hilda, and Bug. When David, Andrew, and Levi arrived in Texamilio after another thirty-minute ride in the unidentified flying object, Rockybado and a few other creatures ran up to the UFO to meet the three boys. “Hello, everyone!” Rockybado greeted the three boys. “Hey!” David replied excitedly to the robot that he has already known. “To all of those who don’t know us, I’m Rockybado. I am the King of Texamilio. Here is Jeremy, a Bobino that looks like a white bird. And this is Johnny, a Bobino that looks like a teal ball with hands and feet. In case you don’t know what a Bobino is, they are fellow creatures who live on this glorious island.” “And here are my friends, Andrew and Levi. We all met not too long ago.” “Splendid. So, as everyone knows, we need to bring the chicken community back to normal. We will need to find as much evidence that we can that we can use against Darveda, Nelson, Hilda, and Bug. As you all know, they are taking advantage of Radcliffe, the leader of the chicken community, and the sooner we get the chicken community back to normal, the better.” After a fifteen-minute introduction with everyone, they all decided that now was the time to comb the area and see if there was any evidence that the “bad guys” might have left behind. No one was sure how long this was going to take. However, they wanted to get a head start and find some useful evidence. Time to begin. |
