From The Magic Video Game
It was near the end of Levi Cranston's seventh grade year, and he, Jack Andrews, and Asad Prejesh were walking over to Levi’s house for an afternoon. It was a Friday afternoon, and things were going very well. Levi never really said much about how much he really liked Mackenzie Burbanks, but Jack and Asad knew how obvious it was, since they knew that Levi would always look in her general direction if she was there, and he would always shy away because he wanted to maintain his emotions. The three boys saw Mackenzie walking toward her parents’ car. Jack and Asad waved at her. Levi, however, looked away. “Levi, I have a proposition for you,” Jack told Levi. “And what is that?” Levi answered with apprehension. “Pick a dandelion and give it to her.” “Are you serious?” “Very.” Levi didn’t do anything at first because he wasn’t sure that he could actually do this. He was extremely timid on these matters. He thought about doing it, and then he would shy away from doing so. “Come on, Levi!” Asad encouraged him. “Just do it,” Jack said. Levi just sighed and gave in to his friends’ proposition. The boy quickly picked a dandelion and walked slowly toward Mackenzie, a brown-haired, brown-eyed girl. He was breathing very hard, and his cheeks turned beet red. His heart was pounding so hard against his chest that he could actually hear the racket inside him. Thumpa, thumpa, thumpa, thumpa. He was still walking toward her, and he started feeling sick to his stomach. It still had to be done, though. He had to interact with this girl some time. “Hi,” Levi spoke quietly. Mackenzie turned around and saw Levi. She could actually hear him. “Hi, Levi,” Mackenzie answered politely. Levi thought about what to say, but he couldn’t think of anything else. With a pounding heartbeat, he quickly gave her the dandelion. Then, he let out a heavy sigh. “Awwww….thanks!” Mackenzie exclaimed. Levi smiled coyly. He could feel the pain in his throat when he swallowed. He did his best to keep his high emotions inside. It worked. “Well, bye, Levi,” Mackenzie said. Levi couldn’t say anything back. Instead, he waved. Then, when she left with her family, he ran back to his friends. Then he started crying. “She is so gorgeous!” Levi exclaimed to his friends. The three boys sat down by the school sign until Levi stopped crying, which took about fifteen minutes to actually calm him down. Then, they all went over to his house for the afternoon and played video games.
