Kevin Nathaniel Maggliardi, one of Levi Cranston’s (The Magic Video Game) friends whom he met in Boston, was spending the mid-day on the phone with his older brother, who lives in London. Kevin's older brother, Sheridan Charles Maggliardi, who is 32 years old, just recently had his tonsils removed after several bouts of strep throat. At the age of 32 years old, no one would or should expect that to happen. Kevin felt that it was his job to walk him through the recovery stage, since he himself had to have his tonsils taken out at the age of 12, and that was in 2006. Kevin is now 25 years old. "Dude, I feel like shit," Sheridan spoke quietly on the phone. "How's your throat?" Kevin asked. "It hurts like hell. I want ice cream." "Then, get someone to give you some." "My girlfriend is out, and my other friends are playing a show. I really don't want to get up," Sheridan remarked. "That was me when I had mine out. My throat really hurt for the first three to four days, and then I started feeling better," Kevin said. "This is Day 7. I should be getting over this by now." "Isn't it worse when you get your tonsils removed as an adult?" "I don't know, I don't care." "So, what are you doing to keep you busy?" "Watching TV. What are you up to, aside from talking to me?" "Not much. Taking it easy today, I think." Kevin was lying on his stomach on his bed, with his laptop facing him, since he was talking to Sheridan that way. He hadn't really planned anything with his friends today, since he wanted to get his laundry done, and he felt that today was a good today to not do anything extravagant. His friends, Levi Cranston, Mackenzie Burbanks, Jack Andrews, Jing Hao, Asad Prejesh, and Mike Wong, were spending an afternoon playing board games and card games at Levi's, Mackenzie's, Jack's, and Asad's apartment in the Allston neighborhood of Boston, but Kevin declined. He wanted to take today to spend talking to Sheridan and helping him through recovering from his tonsillectomy. Kevin had not left the apartment at all today, and he was perfectly okay with that. It was now 1 o'clock in the afternoon Boston time. He woke up at 10 am, showered, and started on his laundry. Today was his day, and he was going to make the most out of it. Although Sheridan and Kevin were still online, they were silent for about five minutes. Sheridan looked totally out of it. His eyes were half-way open, he had an ice pack around his neck, and his hair looked pretty unkempt. In May, Sheridan decided to cut his hair to match Kevin's hairstyle. Kevin couldn't remember if he had brushed his hair this morning. Either way, it didn't look horrible. "What are you watching right now, Charles?" Kevin asked his older brother. Sheridan has always gone by "Charles" or "Charlie" to his family and friends. Kevin has always gone by "Kid" to his family. "Some rubbish I can't understand, given my state," Sheridan remarked. "What TV shows have you gotten into?" "None recently." "I'm putting some on, once we end our call," Kevin remarked. "You're literally doing nothing today?" Sheridan questioned his younger brother. "Nope, and it feels wonderful. Haven't left the apartment at all today." "That's nice." "My friends and I hung out at our place last night. So I think it's a good idea to take a day off. Jing, Wong, and I are doing something tomorrow for sure." "That sounds fun."

A couple of Levi Cranston’s (The Magic Video Game) friends, Kevin Maggliardi and Mike Wong, decided to spend this evening together working out. Levi, Jack Andrews, Asad Prejesh, and Jing Hao spent an evening in downtown Cambridge, Massachusetts. Kevin and Wong had been wanting to run up all of the flights of stairs in Wong’s high rise building in Cambridge, and now was the best day to do it. “Are you ready to die yet, Wong?” Kevin asked his best friend with a smile. “As ready as always,” Wong responded, flexing his right arm. “Me, too. Ready?” “Yes!” After a brief warm-up session, the two boys started running up each flight of stairs. After about five flights of stairs, both boys started breathing a little harder, but they still felt like they could accomplish this feat. Twelve flights of stairs in, and Kevin noticed himself gasping for air, and his face felt flushed. He was not going to let this stop him. This was his goal for over six months, as was Wong’s. He had used his inhaler before running up the stairs. Wong started feeling a burning sensation in his chest, and he could hear his heart pounding in his ears. He didn’t care. They were a few flights up from the top, and this was not going to stop them. Before they knew it, they made it to the top. Both Kevin and Wong slowly finished their last flight and found a ledge to sit on. They were both breathing very hard and were extremely sweaty. Wong’s chest hurt even more than it did before. He tried some deep breathing exercises without much luck. He had to catch his breath before he could relax. Kevin’s hands were on his chest. He could both hear and feel his heart racing. He thought it could pop out of his chest at any moment. He buried his head inside his shirt so that he could dry the sweat off his face. “Well, unless we decide to shower, I don’t think we should go anywhere tonight,” Wong remarked, after a few minutes. “I’m winded. I don’t think I’d want to go anywhere tonight,” Kevin replied. “How are you now?” “Almost recovered. How about you?” “I’m fine. Your face is flushed,” Wong said. “It feels flushed. You in the mood for pizza?” Kevin asked. “Of course. I’m probably gonna be hungry within the next hour.” “I call a large pineapple and ham pizza for myself. What about you?” “Feeling cheese today. My heart is racing.” “Just take some deep breaths. You’ll be okay.” September 7, 2018
It was Saturday afternoon, and Levi Cranston (The Magic Video Game) and his friends, Kevin Maggliardi, Jack Andrews, Jing Hao, Asad Prejesh, and Mike Wong decided to play a friendly game of soccer. Mackenzie Burbanks, Levi's girlfriend, and Shanti Lee, Kevin's friend and love interest, were sitting on the grass watching the boys play soccer. It was a pretty intense game so far. "So how long have you and Kevin known each other?" Mackenzie asked Shanti. "Since we were four," Shanti replied. "So have you ever dated since then?" "Casually, yes. But we never really went steady. We thought about it, but he went to school here in Boston, and I was in LA." "What did you study in LA?" Mackenzie asked. "I studied to be a hair stylist," Shanti replied. "Very cool." "What do you do?" "I'm a graphic designer, and Levi is a systems engineer, so he's the IT nut." "As is Kevin." The girls were still watching the intense game. It was Kevin, Mike, and Jing versus Levi, Asad, and Jack. Not that it really mattered, because they were doing this for fun. Of course, Kevin and Levi were the more competitive and active in the game. Jack wanted to be the goalie for his team, so he wouldn't run as much. Jing felt the same way for his team. When the boys took a breather, Kevin ran over to where Shanti and Mackenzie were sitting, and fell to the ground on his back. Shanti noticed that his hands were underneath his head, while he was trying to catch his breath. Kevin was not wearing a shirt, so Shanti could see the ends of his rib cage every time he took a breath. While his right hand was still underneath his head, he let his left hand rest comfortably on his chest. Shanti thought that she could see her friend's heart pumping violently against his hand, and she thought it was kinda cute. "Put your arm down, Kevin," Shanti said to her incredibly sweaty friend. "This feels so good, though," Kevin replied. "But you're so sweaty." "That's what soccer will do to you." "Are you alright?" Shanti asked, noticing that Kevin was still breathing hard. "Yup. Couldn't be better," Kevin stated, drawing in a deep breath and pressing his left hand firmly against his chest. He then heard his stomach gurgle loudly, and his face turned a little red. A few minutes later, Kevin recovered and got back up. With him being all sweaty, he had picked up some grass on his back. Shanti wiped off what grass she could get with the back of her hand and realized how sweaty he really was. Kevin ran back to the field to play some more soccer with everyone else. The game got even more intense, even brutal to some extent. A few of the boys tripped on nothing and fell on top of each other. The soccer ball hit one of the boys hard enough in the chest, causing him to lose his breath for a few seconds. All of the boys were extremely sweaty after an hour and a half of soccer in this weather. Once they all decided to call yet another breather, Kevin noticed that his nose was starting to run. He wiped his nose with his left arm and noticed that he was having a nosebleed. With that in mind, he slowly walked over to the side and knelt down facing the grass and pinched his nose to stop the bleeding. He already had blood on his face, which dripped down to his chest and stomach. The only way that he could have had such a nosebleed would have been from breathing in too hard and potentially causing a lot of pressure in his nose. "Good game, everyone!" Jack shouted as he clapped humorously. He then noticed Kevin pinching his nose, and he still had some grass on his back. "I hope Kevin's okay," Levi remarked. "You alright, Kevin?" "Yeah, had a nosebleed," Kevin replied. "A shower would be nice." "Yeah, I think we are done anyway," Jack stated. "Good." "Once we all shower and whatnot, I'm thinking sushi in downtown tongiht." "Hell yeah we should." Spring 2018
Jack Andrews, Levi Cranston, and Kevin Maggliardi were hanging out at the tennis courts. They all felt that they needed some time to play some matches. Mike Wong, Jing Hao, and Asad Prejesh were invited to join them as well, but they declined. They had other plans in downtown Boston. “Worst effing day of my life,” Jack remarked. “Why? What happened?” Levi asked. “The girl I told you about, right? She decided to friend-zone me.” “Oh shit, that has to suck.” “Yeah. I really liked her. I thought we were on the same wavelength, and she was really pretty.” Jack remarked. “You’ll find another person,” Levi said. “Not right now. This one shook me to the core.” “Well, I remember my worst day.” “I think I know where this is going.” “The day I had my tonsils removed,” Levi stated. “That day also sucked for me, but I remember an even worse day for me,” Kevin said. “You had your tonsils removed, too?” Levi asked. “Yeah, it hurt.” “What else happened?” “Summer of my senior year of high school, I was in a bad car accident, but I walked away from it relatively unscathed,” Kevin said. “I was also in a car accident a couple years ago, right by my parents’ house. You weren’t badly hurt, were you?” Levi asked. “No, not really. I had a mild concussion, but I couldn’t do anything but rest for about a week. I had to have a CT scan and an MRI to make sure I didn’t have any severe head injuries from the accident.” “I also had a concussion, and I also had to go through the same tests. The MRI sucks.” “I remember the loud noise and my head pounding.” “It was the worst. The guy that hit me was drunk. Thank goodness I wasn’t badly hurt.” October 2020
Levi Cranston was doing a video chat with one of his friends, David Ingram. It was a while since they last spoke, especially with both being super busy with work and then the Covid outbreak on top of that. They were on the phone for a good 2 hours. Levi's friends were playing games with each other. Same went for David's friends. "How is it going in Boston?" David asked. "It's good. Jack, Asad, Mackenzie, and I live in the same building as our other friends who have lived there for a few years," Levi replied. "How is San Francisco treating you?" "Not bad. I am occupied with work and all, and obviously trying to wait out this stupid thing called Covid." "Same here." "Just thought about this, and I have meant to ask you. Have you heard anything from Andrew?" David asked. "Andrew....?" Levi replied. "Grzedek." "Oh! No. We haven't talked in a while. I see a lot of his posts on social media. He is in Chicago, I believe. Living with a few of his friends?" "Yeah, I saw that, too. He lives in Lincoln Park, not too far away from my brother, Toby." "Nice. Chicago is great. My parents actually moved to Chicago and gave their house to our grandparents. This happened last year after Evelyn Maeve graduated from high school. She lives in Boston but temporarily lives with my sister, Liz, because of the pandemic," Levi said. "Yeah. I miss Andrew. I know he is super active on social media since he does marketing. But I know he has also been very busy with family," David remarked. "Yeah, he and Caleb are nice. I didn't feel as if I had a lot in common with them, though." "Last we talked was two months ago I believe." January 2020
“Do you remember my 21st birthday?” Kevin Maggliardi asked his older brother, Sheridan, over the phone. “How could anyone NOT remember your 21st birthday? That was literally the goofiest thing Graham and I could ever come up with!” Sheridan replied. “Soooo I told my friend, David, about that idea for his cousin’s 21st, and he thinks he’s gonna take that idea and run with it with his brother.” “Oh, your friend from college?” “Yes, David Rogers. He lives in Chicago now. Actually, not too far away from Addison,” Kevin remarked. “Where does David live in Chicago? I know Addison lives in Lakeview,” Sheridan asked. “Somewhere around there, I think. Uptown? Edgewater? Not sure. He told me before, and it’s one of those two. I just don’t remember offhand.” “Yeah. That was probably the best night of your life.” “Well, one of them.” “Yeah, Graham and I dressed like women and spoke with high-pitched voices. I remember we had a great time.” “Yeah, you all honestly looked like fools out there, while I was getting tipsy and just laughing at you guys,” Kevin said. “We were totally rocking it. I wish Addison was there to see it as well,” Sheridan remarked. November 2019
Kevin Maggliardi and his girlfriend, Shanti Lee, were spending the day watching goofy cartoons. It was a little too chilly to do much else today. All of their other friends were doing other things. “I’ve got my doctor’s appointment this weekend,” Kevin said. “Oh, so you’re going home?” Shanti replied. “Yeah. It’s just a yearly check-up. They’re also checking on my asthma.” “That’s good.” “Doesn’t keep me from being nervous though,” Kevin remarked. “I’ll never forget that story you told me,” Shanti said. “Which one?” “The cute one.” “Oh yeah. When I was like eight or something? Yeah, that one. I was really nervous, and when they had the stethoscope on my chest, I looked down and could see my heart pounding against the chest piece. And I even had my shirt on.” “You’re very thin-chested, and it’s so cute.” “When I’m reading or just relaxing, I can sometimes see my heart beating against my shirt. Kinda creeps me out sometimes,” Kevin said. “Again, it’s really cute,” Shanti replied. January 2020

It was Kevin Maggliardi’s and Shanti Lee’s freshman year of high school in Rhode Island. Kevin spent an evening playing soccer with some friends. Afterwards, Shanti came over to Kevin’s house to watch some cartoons. Kevin was really sweaty and winded, but Shanti didn’t mind. After a semester of having little to no confidence in himself since he‘s very shy, he started feeling better about himself. When Kevin fell asleep, Shanti put her ear against his chest and listened to his heartbeat. His heart was a bit fast and somewhat painful sounding, but it was very steady and strong. Summer 2011
Kevin Maggliardi just walked away from a car accident with only a mild concussion. He took the next week to rest as much as he could, so he could play soccer and tennis again with his friends as soon as possible. The day after the accident and he was released, he spent the whole day sleeping. The first time he woke up was around 10 am, and he took some time to shower and then go back to sleep. He slept for another few hours on the couch in the common area and woke up to his dad turning on a TV show about the Italian mafia. He was drifting in and out until about 4 pm, when he fell back asleep until 7 pm, and his family had dinner by the TV. The rest of the evening was a blur. He slept hard from 10 pm to 2 pm the next day, and he started to feel a little more energy coming back. But he was definitely not in the mood to doing a lot for a good week or two. |
