One year ago, Jeremy and Johnny decided to go to the nearest fast food joint because they were both very hungry. At the drive-thru…. “Thank you for choosing this store. How may I help you today?” a voice said through the machine. “I would like a hamburger, with no ham,” Jeremy said. “A hamburger does not have ham on it.” “Ham-burger. There has to be ham on it.” “It is called a hamburger because it is called a hamburger.” “I would like two hamburger meals, if you insist that there’s no ham on the hamburgers.” “I’m sure there is no ham on the hamburgers.”

From Rockybado: Robot King of the Island
Jeremy Kerplunk and Johnny Dinglebom, two of the goofiest Bobinos in all of Texamilio, were taking a nice little stroll around the neighborhood. Then, Jeremy saw something random that he wanted to show Johnny. “I saw a squirrel,” Jeremy said to his best friend. “You saw a squirrel?” Johnny asked. “Yeah. I saw a squirrel.” “Well, show me then!” Jeremy and Johnny walked to an old oak tree so that Johnny could see the squirrel. But the squirrel was now gone. “Well, never mind,” Jeremy said. “CHARGE!” a squirrel suddenly shouted to his squirrel comrades while they popped out of the tree with acorns in their arms. Their revenge was nigh. Time to run. From The Somewhat Perilous Plot of the Patriotic Mosquitoes
While waiting for Rockybado to return from the meeting, the kids wanted to pass some time by exploring the place. Bradley and Brody checked out an arcade room not too far away from here. Levi and Andrew wanted some Chinese food, so they went to a nearby Chinese restaurant. David and Caleb walked around the area just to see what was around. And Claire and Jack thought about doing something cool, too. “I know this awesome record store in downtown that is a local shop. There's a good selection there. Wide variety varying from rock to classical to jazz. I also know of an amazing ice cream and chocolate shop called Tasty Treats down the street from the store you are talking about!” Jack exclaimed. “Okay! It's a deal!” Claire chimed in. So they left the rooftop despite how nice it was to sit and ponder life up there. Because that's what rooftops are perfect for. “So what kind of music are you into?” Claire wondered aloud. “I like a wide variety,” Jack responded. “I'm pretty open. I love checking out and discovering new artists. But I also enjoy classic rock and alternative bands as well.” “Yeah, that's also kind of what I am into as well,” Claire agreed. “I love cover bands, so we will have to check a few of them out some time!” So they went inside the record store. They browsed for a bit and debated on whether to purchase an old vinyl record. Because these are pretty awesome. This definitely made Claire and Jack think about seeing the cool bands over the summer. After giving it some more thought, they decided not to buy the record. It was kind of pricey, and it is more fun to see bands perform live anyway. So they left. Brett Ingram (Rockybado), his girlfriend Olivia Cranston (The Magic Video Game), her friend Audrey Bersigno, and Brett’s friends, Byron Lewis, Tony Rossi, and Kevin Vast, were all planning a five-day vacation in Orlando, Florida over Memorial Day weekend. They all live in the New York City area, and they have all wanted to plan this vacation for a while.
Brett and Tony are from Crown Point, Indiana. Olivia and Audrey are from Valparaiso, Indiana. Byron is from St Louis. And Kevin is from the Los Angeles area. Brett knows Tony from high school, as do Olivia and Audrey. Brett knows Byron and Kevin from college, and Tony knows them through Brett. Brett was lying on his stomach on the floor in his Brooklyn apartment, with his laptop in front of him. Everyone else gathered around him while he was trying to figure out the cheapest prices, the accountant that he is. He is not just an accountant, he’s a CPA. “Have you found anything relatively cheap?” Byron asked. “It shouldn’t be too bad right now, since we are a couple months away from Memorial Day weekend,” Brett replied, then drawing in a deep breath. “What is it, though?” “Well, I found one-way tickets for $120.” “That’s not too bad, given it’s Memorial Day weekend,” Byron remarked. “I’m sure I might be able to find some cheaper,” Brett stated. “Well, good luck!” “I’m working on it. At least we got a place to stay for those five days.” “Where is it?” “Close to downtown Orlando.” The Ingram’s have visited Orlando several times in their lives, and they have always looked for the best options while down there. With the knowledge and their parents’ have instilled in them when they were little, they have always been smart about how to navigate around their vacations. Brett’s older brother, Dawson, is planning to take his wife and twin daughters to St Louis over Memorial Day weekend. And Brett’s younger siblings, David, Brody, and Toby are visiting Los Angeles over the weekend. Their parents are visiting Orlando as well, and Brett and his friends may run into them. Mr. and Mrs. Ingram still live in Crown Point, but they also maintain a condo in Orlando. This city has always been their favorite. Like Brett’s favorite city is New York City. Dawson’s is Chicago. David’s and Brody’s is San Francisco. And Toby is undecided. He loves New York, Chicago, and San Francisco, but he is not sure where he wants to end up after graduation from college. Toby goes to college in Chicago, but he had an internship in San Francisco last year. This year, he is pursuing an internship in New York City, so that he can compare the two. The first internship that he has ever had was in Chicago. “Okay guys, I found some pretty damn good tickets,” Brett remarked after a few minutes of more intense searching for the best rates. “Okay, how much is it?” Tony asked. “$102 one way.” “That’s not bad, especially for Memorial Day weekend.” “We’re getting them. I’ll pay for them, but make sure you all pay me back for your share of the tickets,” Brett remarked. “We won’t,” Byron replied with a smile. “Byron….” “Jay kay! Oh em gee!” “Really?!” “Oh em gee, you so goofy.” Brett decided to buy the tickets, and Kevin ordered pizza. It was only 4:30 in the afternoon, but he was starting to get hungry. Everyone else would be getting hungry sooner than later as well. It was only the middle of March, so they had plenty of time to get everything squared away with their vacation to Orlando. It was only Saturday afternoon, and everyone was free today. No one had to work today, so they decided to get pizza. They weren’t quite sure what they wanted to do tonight, but Byron had some thoughts. For that matter, so did Tony. They just hadn’t said anything about their ideas yet. “What are your plans tonight?” Tony asked. “As far as I know, nothing,” Byron remarked. “Isn’t there a band performing a few blocks away?” “There is?” “I’m not sure. I had thought about checking them out,” Tony said. “I’m down. What about everyone else?” Byron questioned. “I don’t think they’re hearing us, to be honest.” “Well, shit. What else could they be doing?” “I think they’re watching goofy videos.” “Yeah. Brett, Kevin, Audrey, and Olivia are totally ignoring us.” Brett, Tony, Kevin, and Byron created their own band once they moved to New York City. They are still called the Hawaiian Geeks. When Brett and Tony were still in the Chicago area, they played with the Hawaiian Geeks, but they moved half of their band to New York. The previous bandmates decided to stay with Mr. Morton, another band that Brett had played in while in the Chicago area. Whoever used to be a part of the Hawaiian Geeks and stayed in the Chicago area decided to play with Mr. Morton, while the Hawaiian Geeks moved to New York. Sadly, the Hawaiian Geeks did not have a performance tonight. They had one last weekend, and the turnout was great. They all decided to take a weekend off to plan their vacation to Orlando. Brett, Kevin, Olivia, and Audrey had gathered around Brett’s computer and decided to watch some ridiculously funny videos online. They were obviously caught up in the moment and did not pay attention to Byron and Tony. “WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!!!” Tony screamed at the top of his lungs. “Wha…” Brett responded. “You guys were watching funny videos on the onlines.” “What the hell? Where did you come from?” “Planet Mars,” Tony responded with a goofy smile. “No,” Brett said, laughing to himself. “We should be getting pizza soon.” “That’s great, since we’re all hungry.” “Well, at least I was.” “Yeah, true.” “Wanna see that one band tonight?” Tony asked. “Yeah, we could,” Brett replied. Brett still lay on his stomach on the floor, with his laptop in front of him. Audrey and Olivia were still with Brett and Kevin. Brett decided that now was the time to get his mind off goofy videos from the Internet and focus more on getting ready for tonight. Where Tony had thought about taking everyone tonight is a game room with pool tables. He has been interested in seeing the place for a couple weeks now. And he thought everyone else might like it as well, since they all consider themselves masters at pool. Maybe not that, but they do enjoy the game at least. “Kevin, what kind of pizza did you order?” Byron asked. “Anchovies, garlic, pineapple, and tomatoes, your favorite,” Kevin replied with a goofy smile. “Oh shit. No, you didn’t.” “Just for you, Byron. Since I know you love anchovies, garlic, pineapple, and tomatoes.” “Yeah, no. I don’t,” Byron stated. “Thought you did like them,” Kevin said. “No!” “Just kidding. I got pineapple and ham, and then just cheese. Because I know you love pineapple on pizza.” “Uh uh. You know pretty damn well that pineapple does not go on pizza.” “Yeah, it does.” Kevin got two large pizzas, since there are four guys and two girls in the apartment at the moment. For some, pineapple goes on pizza. For others, pineapple does not go on pizza. With that being said, for Tony, Kevin, Brett, and Audrey, pineapple goes on pizza. For Olivia and apparently Byron, pineapple does not go on pizza. Brett, Olivia, Audrey, and Tony were still watching videos on Brett’s computer. Goofy ones, of course. They were completely unaware of the fact that Kevin had already ordered pizza. But they were aware of the fact that they wanted to check out a local band. After all, it’s New York City. The city is always bopping on a Saturday night. “What’s with Byron?” Brett asked Tony as they overheard some conversation between Kevin and Byron. “Who knows? I think he’s being a bit of a butt today,” Tony remarked. “Byron is always a butt.” “Is he now?” “I think so,” Brett replied, laughing to himself. “He does not like pineapple on pizza,” Tony stated. “Does he like pineapple at all?” “I don’t know, but he likes grapefruit.” “I like grapefruit, especially with sugar on top of a half.” “Does it ever squirt in your eye?” “Sometimes.” About thirty minutes later, they all heard the doorbell ring, so they all knew what that meant. The pizza god was here to give them pizza. After Kevin got the money from everyone and gave it to the delivery person, they got their pizza fix. It was early afternoon, so no one felt like drinking yet. That would be later when they’d go out and hit up Brooklyn. Tony decided to put on some goofy TV while they would all eat pizza. Within thirty minutes, both pizzas were gone. But they all still wanted to watch some TV before leaving the apartment. All six kids were pretty hooked on this show, and they wanted to watch as much as they possibly could before the weather would warm up. An hour later…. “Let’s hit up Brooklyn,” Byron said, semi-announcing everything. “Where are we going first?” Brett asked. “Oh, you know.” “Oh, where the band is performing?” “How did you know?” Byron asked, semi-goofy. “We talked about it!” Brett exclaimed. “Oh, yeah. That’s right.” “I want to see them about as badly as you do. I guess we’re all ready to go then.” From The Somewhat Perilous Plot of the Patriotic Mosquitoes
Rockybado had some things to take care of in terms of an upcoming party in Calignobia. It was going to be the absolute best party in all of the pretty area. Because of this, he had to go back to his planning before the Patriotic Mosquitoes would even consider coming back to Texamilio. Now, before Rockybado would help them again, the kids were going to go to Galavanti Island and meet some dinosaurs who could possibly help them out for the time being. Then, Rockybado’s plan was to wrap things up with the Patriotic Mosquitoes. “I am planning a party in Calignobia soon,” Rockybado said. “Are we invited?” Claire asked with a lot of hope on her mind. “Absolutely.” “Yay!” “So, you will temporarily be in Galavanti Island to meet Dacston, a t-rex,” Rockybado remarked. “How long will we be there for?” Brody asked. “I do not know. Depends on how well things go out there.” “Are the Patriotic Mosquitoes there?” “As of now, yes.” “Alright.” Hello, everyone!
Today is not going to be filled with an absurd haiku! Rather, I would like to take the time to shy away from that and focus all of my attention on the kids in the Rockybado series, especially Dawson Ingram. He is the oldest of the Ingram's, and he doesn't always get a lot of attention. There are Dawson Allan Wickes Ingram (the oldest), Brett Jason Ingram (the second oldest), David Baker Ingram (the third), Brody Andrew Ingram (the fourth), and Toby Ingram (fifth and adopted). Here are ten fun facts about Dawson that you may not have known before. 1. Dawson attended university in Valparaiso, Indiana. He initially studied Spanish and Education but then decided that he wanted to pursue a career in online marketing. He changed his Education major to Marketing. 2. Between 2007 and 2014, Dawson lived in Chicago with a few of his friends from college. Their jobs were in Chicago. 3. In 2014, Dawson moved back to Northwest Indiana to start a new life with his now spouse, Daniela. 4. They own a house in Valparaiso on the southwest side toward Merrillville. 5. Dawson has lived in the Rogers Park, Lincoln Park, and Lakeview neighborhoods in Chicago. 6. Dawson and Daniela have adopted twin daughters, Olivia and Amelia. They are from China. 7. Dawson and Daniela met in college. They were very good friends during that time, but were not actively in a relationship. 8. Daniela, Dawson's wife, is originally from Matteson, Illinois. 9. Dawson was named after their dad, whose name is also Dawson. 10. His middle name is Alan Wickes, since he was born on the same day as their maternal uncle, Alan Wickes. Here you go! Enjoy that lack of a haiku. The Patriotic Mosquitoes ended up going to the nearby Mexican restaurant to order fajitas, since that was what they wanted before. Steak and shrimp fajitas at this one Mexican place, known commonly to man as That One Mexican Restaurant, were what the Patriotic Mosquitoes had their palates set on. “Still in the mood for fajitas?” Sam asked Lisa. “Absolutely,” Lisa replied. “So, I believe this is the place.” “What is the place?” “That One Mexican Restaurant,” Sam replied. "Funny. It doesn’t sound Mexican,” Lisa said. “No, silly. It’s Spanish. And no the name is not in Spanish.” “Oh!” “Silly buffoon.” “Oh silly me!” When they all walked inside the place, some very authentic mariachi music was playing over the speakers. In about an hour and thrity minutes, a real live mariachi band was going to come to the restaurant and play some very authentic mariachi music, and the Patriotic Mosquitoes were thinking about staying over for a bit of time. An afternoon well spent. It's only Monday.
Today wasn't so mundane. Opposite of that. A very quick day. Always was one had by all. Now it's time to write. It's almost midnight. The most perfect time to write. That, and 3 am. I'm writing again. A little slowly for sure. Better late than not. Rockybado's good. Jazzy Isle of Dinosaurs. Magic Vid'ya Game. From The Somewhat Perilous Plot of the Patriotic Mosquitoes
Andrew was lying on the couch this morning. He was not feeling well at all since this morning. It appeared that the Patriotic Mosquitoes were still nowhere in sight. If they were spotted, then they would've been notified somehow. Right now, though, Andrew didn't care too much about what was going on. He was just trying to focus on getting over this stupid and annoying cold that he seemed to have. He wanted to be sprawled out on the couch while eating some delicious chicken noodle soup and drinking some delicious mint tea. He didn't mind that at all today. And, as a matter of fact, Levi wasn't too concerned about the Patriotic Mosquitoes either. He wanted to make good use of his time and go on a run. He hadn't done so in about a week, and he was pretty sad about that. The last time he had gone on a run was with Mackenzie Burbanks, his girlfriend, when they wanted to on the north side of Valparaiso. And, since then, Levi was also getting over a cold. He just simply did not feel like doing anything. He was pretty much all better now, but last week he was pretty miserable. Levi basically lived on chicken noodle soup and tea for at least two days if not more. He also used that time and listened to his most favorite rock bands while taking it easy. Because....why not? Andrew had actually gone on a run this morning as well. A lot earlier than Levi; he forced himself to get up at 6:30 in the morning to go on an hour long run. He had to try to get himself over this cold, so that could be a good way of getting rid of it. At least he'd thought so. However, when he came back from his run, he went back to sleep. And he fell asleep for four hours. No night meds or anything. It just happened, which was probably good, given the situation. Andrew woke up when he heard the door open. He did know who it was, though. "I just came back from running around the area," Levi said, panting. "You okay, man?" Andrew asked, slightly worried. He had gone on a run a little earlier, and now he was taking the time for a breather. "My chest hurts. I don't know why. And my heart is pounding." "Did you cool down at all?" "A little, and then I realized I needed to come back in," Levi replied. "Is your asthma acting up?" Andrew asked. "No. I don't think it is because I used my inhaler before I went on my run." "Well, funny thing is, I actually have asthma as well. You probably don't know that." "How long have you had it?" "Not too long ago. It's adult onset." Andrew has actually had asthma for a few years. He didn't notice it until one day when he was seventeen, and he was playing tennis extra hard. Andrew did have some trouble catching his breath, and then he realized that he knew what this could mean. One other person in his immediate family has asthma, and that is his little sister, Alyssa. However, due to how mild her condition is, she manages her asthma pretty well. Andrew has had asthma since he was seventeen years old, but he has a mild case as well. He has had maybe two actual asthma attacks after the incident during tennis practice. Levi, on the other hand, has not always managed his asthma very well and he has had a few more asthma attacks since Andrew. And, also, Levi has had asthma since the age of five. Even though Levi has moderate asthma, he has always ended up fine. Levi came back into the common area of Rockybado’s humble abode. He knew for sure that Andrew was really not comfortable. Andrew's face looked puffy, not so much to the point that he might have a sinus infection. But more or less due to the fact that what Andrew had was most likely a head cold. And perhaps a chest cold as well. If that really does exist, who knows. Levi sat down on the adjacent recliner and started texting Mackenzie, his girlfriend. Andrew was pretty sure he knew who Levi was texting. Or at least that was what he assumed. And that was most definitely the path of least resistance. Andrew wanted to make some conversation, but he didn't feel up to getting off the couch. He just lay there like a cat and rested his head on his pillow. He had a blanket over him, but he was not feeling cold now. It was most definitely a weird thing. One minute, Andrew was freezing and needed a blanket. The other minute, he was burning up and did not require a blanket. Levi felt the exact same way before they came here. And he thought that he might have picked it up from Mackenzie's side of the family. Two of her brothers, Jesse and Andrew, were supposedly on their proverbial death beds as well. In other words, the cold that must have been going around really hit them hard. "So how long have you and Mackenzie been together?" Andrew asked. "Nine years, as of October," Levi replied. "Oh wow!" "Yes, and it's been going strong ever since we've actually been together." "I'm almost there actually," Andrew remarked. "Are you with someone?" Levi felt compelled to ask. "Yes, I'm with Eliza Colbert. We were dating most of middle school and the first half of high school. Then, I dated someone else for about a year. She was nice and all, and we're still friends, but it just wasn't the same." "So, how did you and Eliza get back together?" "College. We just so happened to go to the same school." "I guess the same thing happened with David and Olivia." Fate just seemed to happen for Andrew and his girlfriend, Eliza Colbert. They had dated for a while in middle school and high school. However, it was somewhat hard for them because Andrew went to a public school two minutes away from his parents' house. And Eliza went to a private school in Merrillville. They were both involved in quite a lot of clubs and organizations. So, with this in mind, time was most definitely not on their side. And then, when they started college, they then found out that they were going to the same college. But, between the time that Andrew and Eliza had broken up for the first time and the time that they started dating again, Andrew was seeing someone else. They were somewhat friends but they were not super close. The result of this relationship was basically a blind date, with Andrew's friend, Matt Bartz, organizing this for him. "What was the name of the girl that you dated when you finished high school?" Levi asked with utmost curiosity. "Mallory Evans," Andrew said. "My sister might know her." "Really. How?" "She has a lot of friends in the Schererville area. In fact, her best friend, Audrey Bersigno, practically knows everyone from there," Levi remarked. "Interesting. I don't think I know an Audrey Bersigno," Andrew stated. "She's interesting." "How so?" "She likes to have a lot of friends. She's an extrovert, and I'm not, so it's hard to understand them sometimes." "I'm also an extrovert." "So is Olivia to some degree." Andrew finally felt like getting up off the couch and making himself some tea. In all honesty, Levi was kind of in the mood for tea as well. When Andrew was in the kitchen, he saw that there was strawberry lemonade tea, English breakfast tea, mint tea, and Johnny Morthland's Special Tea. What was in this tea exactly? Andrew didn't know. And Levi didn't know. They knew who Johnny Morthland is. But they were really curious about what the main ingredients in the tea were. They had to know! But they weren't in a hurry to know either. Andrew went on ahead and made himself some English breakfast tea, his favorite. However, with the thought of Johnny Morthland's Special Tea running through his compromised head, he took the box and stuffed it in his hoodie pocket. He wanted to learn more about what in the Sam Hill this tea might have been. But he didn't care to know now. And, for that matter, Levi didn't think it mattered too much right now. Levi also made himself some English breakfast tea, which didn't take too long to make. He was on his way back to the common area with Andrew, who saw that Levi was still wearing his ankle brace. Andrew had previously thought that Levi would only need his ankle brace when playing tennis or sleeping, or both. But he might have been wrong. Levi might need to wear his ankle brace a little more often now. "How's the ankle?" Andrew asked. "It's better, I think," Levi replied. "What did you do to it, man?" "I rolled it, and it sucks because it seems like I need my ankle brace on like all the time now." "I can only imagine how that can feel!" Andrew lightened up the mood. "Are you telling me?" Levi remarked. "I've done that before but I don't have horrendously weak ankles either." "Thanks, man." "I didn't mean it to be rude." "I know. I played into it. I do that all the time." Good to know. Andrew and Levi sat in the common area with cups of tea in their hand. They didn't say anything for a little while. Mostly because they were waiting for their tea to cool down a bit. And it wasn't a necessarily cool day. With this in mind, drinking hot tea might not have been the best idea ever. Then again, it might have been, especially for Andrew. Levi just wanted tea, and he also wanted to relax for a bit. He had just finished a pretty intense run, and his ankle was throbbing. Right now, he didn't want to do much with the case involving the Patriotic Mosquitoes. "How are you doing?" Levi asked as he was lying on his back on the couch. "My chest hurts a bit, but I'm not too bad. I just got over a cold so that's why I'm still sounding a bit stuffed up," Andrew replied. "That's good. Better than my dang ankle." "Yeah, you must have twisted it badly out there." "In sports, my mom jokes that I'm an accident waiting to happen," Levi commented. "How so?" Andrew asked. "A lot of running involved and, of course, I forgot my stupid ankle brace today." "Ah. Makes sense." "You gonna play tennis again for a while?" "Oh, I dunno. Hopefully I'll get over this cold soon enough." 'Tis supposedly the season for the cold. Bradley had a cold in June, and so did David. Brody was sick with the cold two weeks ago. Levi had it last week, thanks to two of his girlfriend's brothers. And now Andrew was affected. Honestly, it wasn't just Mackenzie's two brothers who got Levi sick with the cold. Levi's neighbor, Rhody Leyman, was also sick around the same time as Jesse and Andrew Burbanks. Rhody was invited to come on this adventure but he turned it down because of how hard the cold had hit him. At least it didn't hit him with a baseball bat. That would have been rather gruesome. "How's the Rhodes doing?" Andrew asked. "He's good. He got a job," Levi replied. "Oh! Doing what?" "He works for my dad's friend's company in marketing. My dad's buddy got him in." "Your dad's friend in their garage band?" Andrew asked. "Mhm," Levi replied. "That's the nice thing about networking." "What do you do?" "Marketing as well. It's cool that your dad's rock band buddy does some networking." "Yes, and I'm practically guaranteed a job with my dad when I finish school." |
