Summer 2019
Mike Wong and Kevin Maggliardi went on a run on a warm afternoon, when they probably should not have. Their 1.5-hour long run went well for the most part, until the end. When Wong and Kevin finished their run, Wong was doing fine. But Kevin was experiencing difficulty breathing and a sharp pain in his chest. He lay on the ground with both hands on his chest, feeling for his heartbeat, and his shirt was pulled up to his stomach. His belly button and part of his boxers were exposed. “Wong,” Kevin said weakly. “Yes, Kevin?” Wong responded. “Can you get my inhaler?” “Sure, where is it? “Backpack,” Kevin replied. “I’ll look for it,” Wong said. “I forgot to use it.” “Oh shit.” “Yeah.” “You okay?” “I’m not sure.” Wong gave Kevin his inhaler, and once he took a few puffs, Kevin started to recover. After a few minutes, he rolled over on his left side and threw up. “You okay, Kevin?” Wong asked. “I’m getting there,” Kevin replied. “Sorry about today.” “No, I screwed up. I forgot to use my inhaler before we went on our run, and that always happens to me when I don’t.” “It happens. I have asthma as well, and the same thing has happened to me before,” Wong stated. “My heart was pounding so hard, that I thought it was gonna burst. Every time I felt my heartbeat, I felt a sharp pain in my chest, and of course it really hurt to breathe,” Kevin remarked. “Oh wow, that sucks.” “Yeah, I’m glad it’s over. And throwing up sucks as well.” “Yes, it does. Same thing happened to me a few times when I also forgot my inhaler.” “My older brother has asthma as well, and there were also a few times where he forgot to use his inhaler.”

It was around 10 am the next morning after Kevin Maggliardi was held at gunpoint. He just woke up after falling asleep around 8:30 the evening before. Kevin woke up to his heart racing and in a cold sweat. He wore his clothes from the night before, and he was hoping for a long and relaxing shower. It took Kevin a while to get back to his senses, and he really did not want to get up. His friends, Jack Andrews and Levi Cranston (The Magic Video Game) were with him once he woke up, and they got him something to eat. Jing Hao, Asad Prejesh, and Mike Wong had spent an evening in Boston, and Asad stayed over with Jing. "Good morning, sleepyhead," Jack said to their "baby brother." "I feel so disgusting," Kevin replied sleepily, as he took off his hooded sweatshirt. It was drenched in sweat. His hair was very messy from sleeping so long. "How are you feeling?" "Same as last night." "How's your chest?" Jack questioned. "It really hurts to breathe," Kevin replied, slowly and painfully drawing in a deep breath. His fingers were pressed against his chest. "I woke up several times last night." "We didn't hear you at all." "I can hear my heart beating in my ears, and it's starting to get annoying." "Just plug your ears!" "I wish. Once someone aggressively grabs your backpack and throws you against a wall with a revolver pressed against your chest, it changes things." October 20, 2018
Kevin Maggliardi was at Levi Cranston’s (The Magic Video Game) and Jack Andrews’ apartment this evening to recover from a very scary situation earlier this afternoon. Kevin lay on the couch, while Jack was sitting in an adjacent butterfly chair, watching him recover. Asad Prejesh, their other roommate, was out exploring downtown Boston with Kevin’s other roommates. Levi was sitting in the same room with them, but he wanted Jack to help Kevin get back to normal. Kevin was doing some deep breathing exercises while feeling for his heartbeat. ”How are you feeling, Kevin?” Jack questioned their friend. ”My chest hurts, and my heart is pounding so hard it wants to burst,” Kevin replies quietly. ”It’s okay. Let it pound. It’s just doing its thing.” ”Whew! That was awful.” ”I know it was. At least you’re here, and you’re safe,” Jack remarked. ”Is it okay if I stay here for the night? I am way too tired to go home,” Kevin asked, with both hands still on his chest. ”Absolutely,” Levi replied. ”I really don’t want to move,” Kevin said. ”Wanna put on a movie or TV or something?” Jack questioned. ”Really, I just want to sleep.” October 20, 2018
Levi Cranston (The Magic Video Game), Jack Andrews, Asad Prejesh, and Jing Hao were at their apartment in Allston, playing card games. It was around 7 pm, and they were expecting their other friend, Kevin Maggliardi, to get to the apartment around 5:30 pm. They knew that he had some errands that he needed to run, but they had not heard from him until about 30 minutes later. At 7:15, they heard a knock on the door, and they knew it was Kevin. Jack walked over to the door because he knew that he was going to be really shaken up. “Hey Kevin,” Jack greeted their friend at the door. “Hey,” Kevin responded quietly. “You alright?” “No.” “We’re all here in the common area,” Jack said. “That’s good,” Kevin replied. “You wanna talk about it?” “Maybe in a bit. I need to catch my breath.” “You ran all the way here?” “Yup.” Jack and Kevin walked together into the common area, where everyone else was. They noticed that Kevin was absolutely not himself. He seemed really tired and out of breath, and he was really sweaty, after sprinting two miles from the scary incident. He appeared to be very shaken up, and Jack let him lie on their couch. Levi and Asad put away the games, so that they could focus on helping get Kevin stable. No one has ever seen him like this before. Asad got a pillow from his room and put it on the couch for Kevin to lay his head on. Kevin lay sideways on the couch, trying really hard to catch his breath. His hands were on his chest, most likely feeling for his heartbeat. “My heart’s pounding,” Kevin remarked quietly. “It’s okay, buddy. You’re safe here,” Jack replied. “Thanks.” “So what happened?” “I was being followed and then held at gunpoint,” Kevin said. “Oh shit. You didn’t lose anything, did you?” Jack questioned. “I lost like $12 in cash, but that was about it. I didn’t have my wallet on me, so I lucked out. When I gave him what I had, I distracted him, and then I bolted. I think I ran like two or three miles. And then my asthma acted up a bit, so that was great.” “Why did he follow you in the first place?” “I have no idea why I was a target. Maybe it was because I had my backpack on me.” “Yeah, who knows? But, at least you’re safe.” “I don’t think I’ve ever feared for my life.” Jing and Asad walked over to Jing and Kevin’s apartment in Cambridge, only a 30 minute walk on foot. Their two other roommates, David Vittorio and John Harold, wanted to hit up downtown Boston in the evening, so all four boys were going to head out that way shortly. Levi and Jack decided to stay back with Kevin. They would probably watch TV for the rest of the night and let Kevin stay over. “Hey Kevin,” Levi got his friend’s attention after he accidentally fell asleep for a few minutes. “Yeah?” Kevin asked softly. “Something similar happened to me when I was a kid.” “Oh really?” “I used to walk home from school, and I was approached twice in eighth grade,” Levi remarked. “Oh wow,” Kevin replied. “Yeah. It was pretty scary. When I was walking home from school, some old guy asked me if I was cold, since I didn’t have a coat on. That terrified me, so I bolted back to my house. That was the first time, and we thought we had everything settled. Then, a month later, someone screamed random crap out of their car, and I thought it was directed at me, so I ran back to my house. That was when I was walking to school. I couldn’t go to school that day, because I was too terrified.” “That’s scary.” “You alright?” “I will be.” May 8, 2021
Kevin Maggliardi wanted to take some time to himself and his girlfriend, Shanti Lee, this evening. Their other friends were hanging out in downtown Cambridge, Massachusetts. Kevin and Shanti ordered Indian food and watched some cartoons. Afterwards, Kevin decided to read one of his chemistry books, and his girlfriend snuggled with him. His shirt was up to the ends of his ribcage, and his belly button was exposed. She could hear his stomach softly gurgling, and she watched him breathing steadily. Shanti placed her ear where his shirt was pulled up and could hear his soft heartbeat. It was a little fast but very pleasurable. Since her ear was between his chest and his stomach, that was why his heart was a bit quieter. Kevin stroked Shanti’s hair with his left hand while she started to doze off. When he picked up his book to start reading, Shanti moved her ear to Kevin’s left nipple and could hear his heart beating very loudly, as well as his breathing. There were a couple times when she could actually hear blood flowing through his heart. Shanti fell asleep in a matter of an hour while Kevin was reading his chemistry book. November 2019
Kevin Maggliardi was staying at home the whole day because he had a bad cold. He had plans to hang out with his friends, Levi Cranston, Jack Andrews, Asad Prejesh, Jing Hao, and Mike Wong in downtown Boston. But he felt sick enough to just lie on the couch. His girlfriend, Shanti Lee, stayed with him while everyone else spent the day out. “You want some tea, love?” Shanti asked Kevin. “Yes, please. I’ll do peach oolong. That shit is amazing,” Kevin remarked. “How do you feel?” “Like shit run over by a truck.” “I believe it,” Shanti remarked. “I’m so glad I called off from work today. I could fall asleep at any time,” Kevin stated, sounding very stuffed up. “You definitely should get some rest when you have some time.” “I think the tea will relax me. Also, can you check my temperature? I don’t know if I have a fever.” “Yeah, sure.” “Thank you.” Kevin coughed softly on his left arm. He was very stuffed up and felt very out of it. Shanti checked his temperature for him, and he had a 100.9 degree fever. He fell asleep after a couple sips of his peach oolong tea. June 2019
“Do you remember that one time a couple years ago when I was really sick?” Kevin Maggliardi asked his roommate, Jing Hao. They were playing video games in their Cambridge, MA apartment. “Yes, I do. Very interesting situation,” Jing replied. “I was so out of it, I couldn’t work for three days. So I went back to my parents’ for that time so I could recover. It was just a really bad cold, but that was the worst I think I ever felt with just that.” “Didn’t you like sleep for a day straight?” “I slept for 16 hrs. Like I fell asleep at around 10 that night, according to my dad. Then I woke up at like 2 that following afternoon. And I felt so gross when I woke up, I sweat through my t-shirt and my hoodie. I remember my armpits smelled so bad that I was afraid to raise my arms,” Kevin remarked. “That I don’t remember,” Jing said. “It was my cat, Tuba, that woke me up. But I probably could’ve slept through the whole day.” “I think a similar situation actually happened to me right before college actually. What brought this up?” “David mentioned something.” |
