Impromptu Vacation

So here I am writing a poem that is completely left field.
I am on vacation after 11 months of not taking any time off.
That time was pretty well spent, nonetheless.
But! It is definitely time for a break.

Vacation is meant for everyone to come together and drink tea.
If you don't like tea, then drink something else.
Don't freaking cry about it.
Laugh at the most ridiculous stuff.

My brother muses over a laundry bag.
Then he does a belly flop on the bed in our hotel room.
Laughter emanates throughout the whole room.
Only one person is laughing.
Then everyone else laughs because the one person begins it all.

My brother is moving back to Germany.
My sister is moving back to Boston.
And my butt is staying in the Windy City.
Needless to say, I love it.

2018 has been pretty damn good so far.
But the best part is not over yet.
It will only get better from here.
Life is full of stepping stones.
Those that we can use to propel ourselves forward.
That will help us get to our final destination.
