A Little Excerpt

It was January 2nd, 2017. David, Brody, and Toby Ingram, and Andrew McCalsky were in San Francisco, California, for the time being. They were just exploring the unknown and eating as much Chinese food as possible. Well, really, they were doing a lot of other cool things as well, but they wanted to take it easy this morning. The four boys had a few days left in their favorite city, and today seemed like the best day to stay in the hotel for a few more hours.

It was about 9:30 in the morning Pacific Standard Time, and all of the boys were awake and full from the continental breakfast in the main lobby. They had returned to their hotel room and tried to figure out what to do for the day. They weren't gonna go all out like they've had in the past. And things were definitely going to change when Brody heard his phone go off. This was hopefully gonna be Julia Jaconetti, his girlfriend.

"Hey!" Brody exclaimed on his end of the phone, with very much excitement.
"Hi, Brody,"  responded his second oldest brother, Brett.
"Hey, Brett. What's going on?"
"So, it turns out I'm in the ER."
Everyone in the hotel room could hear Brody's loud gasp. Something was up. Something was definitely up.
"OH MY GOD! Are you okay?!" Brody shrieked.
"Yes, I'm fine. I had overslept this morning, and I was afraid I was gonna miss my bus. All I did was brush my teeth and put on some everyday clothes, and I bolted from my apartment to try to catch it. While running, I tripped on absolutely nothing, and I thought it was a sprain at first. The doctor thinks I broke it," Brett explained.
"Hashtag Chicago."
"Very funny, Brody."
"So, what are you gonna do with band and all?"
"I'm still gonna play with them. I might need to sit with my ankle propped up on a chair, but what the hey."

That's the spirit. Even if there is a situation like that, it's perfectly okay to keep moving along with doing whatever he or she would definitely want to do. Brody was definitely shocked at the fact that Brett most likely broke his ankle. But at least he wasn't in bad spirits. That seemed to make things better.

"So, what are you going to do tonight then, since you have that concert at your friend's party?" Brody asked, assuming his brother was going to say something quite positive.
"I'm still gonna play. It will be a pain with sitting down all the time, but my band mates wanted me to play for both the Hawaiian Geeks and Mr. Morton," Brett replied in a quite positive manner.
"I thought you were done with Mr. Morton."
"I am, but I was asked to fill in for a band mate who is on vacation."
"Where is that kid vacationing?"
"New York City."

Brody and Brett were on the phone for a few more minutes, and then Brett needed to hang up, as the doctor was about to come back in and check on his ankle. David and Toby went back down to the lobby to get some tea; from what they heard in the conversation between Brody and Brett, they were not too worried. Andrew, however, remained a little concerned. He stayed in the hotel room with Brody.

"So, what happened to Brett?" Andrew felt compelled to ask.
"He thinks he broke his ankle," Brody replied.
"How?!"
"He tripped on nothing!"
"Oh lordy!" Andrew exclaimed.
"He's still performing at a friend's party tonight," Brody remarked.
"That's the spirit!"
"Yes. At least it's not bad. His ankle should heal in a month."
"Right, because he thinks he broke it."
"He thinks he did."
